Venue: Crown Theatre The season of Awe and Wander is here when the “Nutcracker Ballet” comes to the Crown Center in December. All the Excitement and Beauty of the full production takes the stage at the Crown Center Theatre, Sundays, December 6th and 13th and Saturday, December 12th. The North Carolina State Ballet production of the “Nutcracker”, directed by Charlotte Blume, has a cast of 60 Dancers and Actors. International Guest Artists, Barbara Toth and Wei Ni perform the principal roles of Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier. Additionally, Mr. Ni will dance the Nutcracker Prince in the first act with Anne Talkington or Dara Buffaloe who alternate as Clara. Daniel Moore performs as Drosselmeyer, The Magician. April Glasper is the Flower Queen. Mr. Ni trained in China and has performed with the Tulsa Ballet Theater, Cincinnati Ballet and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. Ms. Toth was trained in Budapest and has performed extensively in Europe. A beautiful new backdrop ushers in Act II. Designed and painted by Local Artist, Cindy Slappy, the new backdrop shows the entrance to the “Land of the Sweets” and the “Sugar Plum Fairy”. A full performance of the “Nutcracker” is offered for Area Schools on Friday morning, December 11th at 10:00 am. Schools or classes may make reservations for this performance by calling the Ballet Company office at (910)485-4965. Special prices are offered for groups attending the School Show. Military Appreciation Day is Saturday, December 12th. Military Personnel may make group reservations for preferred seating and get a military discount of $11.00 a ticket. Tickets for general Seating are $14.00 at the Crown Box Office. Saving Abel "Class of 2009" Tour Tickets for the “Class of 2009”, featuring Saving Abel, Red, Pop Evil and Taddy Porter will go on sale this Saturday, October 17 @ 10 am. Tickets are $23.00 and are available thru all Ticketmaster outlets, on-line and at the Crown Center Box Office. Headliner Saving Abel, is the first act in over three years to have three top five rock hits off their debut release. The band’s debut singles” Addicted,” “18 Days,” and “Drowning (Face Down)” have delivered a massive fan base for the Corinth, MS. quintet. Saving Abel’s biggest hit “Addicted,” was a #1 rock hit, crossed over to peak at #7 on Billboard’s Top 40 Airplay Chart and also sold over a million downloads. Both RED and Pop Evil have had hits in the Top 10 this year and are quickly becoming staples at rock radio as well. Saving Abel guitarist Jason Null offered, “I love the idea of this tour. Not only do we get to tour with some of the other hit makers of 2009, we also get a chance to help break a new artist. This is a great line-up that our fans and rock fans in general are going to be way into.”
